emerging pictures

I took snap-shots out of the emerging picture drawn by the movements of the mobile. By way of example, the picture above shows three snap-shots from two dripping bags (elements) of my mobile.
On top the early stage. After a short turbulent movement, one can 'read' out of the lines that the elements rotated clockwise. One element followed the other. Both did a loop and after this the lines changed their direction. One element is following the other - the interaction is a kind of 'imitation' but the elements are still moving individual.

a question of scale

To get a fine and filligree picture out of  my mobiles movement, I switched to another scale.

Now I have to think how to use this pictures best.
In addidion I have to say: the sound of the flowing and later on dripping colours was just great. If this project get's to a performance, all the features (sound, light) must arise out of the mobiles elements and they're movement.

sand

Thinking about the way how to get a much more filligree image of the mobiles movement (elements movement) I came cross the idea to work with sand. This could be a 'positive drawing (see my post 'element bag'). But it could also be a 'negative drawing'. See what I found!

element sinker

I'd like to get movement pictures which are far more filligree than the ones I got from the colour bag.
Experiment: colour sinker

Result: definitely not matching my expectations! But at least it looks nice...

element bag

Thinking about 'flexible elements' the easiest way to realise a model is to have elements which are flexible in weight.

Experiment: little bag filled with colour.

Result: the little bag is twirling and twisting around. The less colour left in it the slower it gets. AND I like the drawing of the movement!
